BAD BOYS.

{To the Editor.}

Sir, — Every one must rejoice to know that the naughty boys in the County Council are going to be punished for their bad behaviour during the session.' 'fheir honorarium is stopped and quite right toop How dare they enquire into the conduct o the friends of those in high places, and how could they have the assuranc eto comment upon the County Auditor and his report? of course it is known that Mr v Patten snubbed the members most unmercifully, but then he is a Government officer and he very naturally was angry when the Council presumed to investigate a certain matter. It happens, however, very fortunately that the signtures of both the County Chairman and the County Auditor, are required before cheques can be drawn upon the honoraruim.sgjlt affords me great pleasure to see that the proper course is being taken, and that members are not to be paid their honorarium. It serves them right for having interfered with the County Chairman, the County Auditor, or the friends of these gentlemen. They might be sure they would receive a Roland for an Oliver I do not mind confessing (privately) that the County Chairman has placed himself in a ridiculous position in trying to force members to attend the Council perpetuity and I do to some extent sympathize with tbe County Secretary, who has to attend at the Council chamber night after night and declare the Council adjourned, but still members should have confined their work to voting the salaries of the officers, and should not have inquired into unpleasant matters I presume that the rule which applies to the honorarium will not apply to the County Chairman's salary for he is not to blame for what the others have done. He differed with them to the fullest extent in connection with the unpleasant matters before alluded to, and of course has a perfect right to sign his own cheque. I hope that the coirection which is now being adminiseted to members will have the desired effect and that they will for the future abstain from making unpleasant inquiries, and will behave themselves better for the future. I am Sir Yours, &c. AUDITOR.
