WASTE LANDS BOARD.

A sitting of the Board was held at noon, yesterday. Present — The Chief Comissiocer, Mr Evans, Mr Robinson, and the Receiver of Land Revenue.

The minutes of the previous meeting were read and confirmed.

The following letters were read : — From the County Chairman's office, forwarding a resolution of the Council affirming the desirability of holding monthly sittings of the Board at Greymouth. From Mr ' Warden Revell, forwarding an application from E. F. Barnett for an agricultural leaae of 10 acres on the Grey ',

From the Warden's office at Stafford, forwarding an application from J. Schaf * for an agicultural lease on the south side of the Waimea creek.

From Mr Warden Revell, forwarding an application from W. M'Fie for an agricultural lease at Maori creek.

From Edward Dixon, Greymouth, forwarding a swoin statement of facts in connection with his purchase Vf land at Greymouth. " '

Prom the County Chairman's office, forwarding reßolntioh of Council an? papers, in the matter of the applications of Charles Clarke and A. Scott to "purchase 10,000 acres of land at a reduced price. Mr Learmonth applied on behalf of Charles Clarke to withdraw his application to purchase 9600 acrea of land. The Board allowed the application to be withdrawn. The Board resolved to recommend that 9500 acres of land in the Okarito district T°i. *£ Archib aW Scptt at 15s per acre. JohnKeig, by his agent, Mr Learmonth, applied to purchase 20 acres of rural land in Block LXXXVn, Arahura district. Granted, £20 paid. W. S. .Smith applied, by his agent, Mr Learmonth, to have put up to auction six Crwvt ??iv a n d ' com P ri9 ing 48 acres, in Block LXXTX, Grey district. Granted, £24 deposit paid. In connection with the foregoing application the Board agreed to hold a sale at Greymouth of suburban sections in the Grey district, oh Thursday, October 30 Mace and Canavan applied, by their agent, Mr Learmonth, to have 70 acres of rural land, in Block 1, reserved in payment for public works.

Granted.

W. S. Smith applied, by his agent, Mr Learmonth, to purchase 150 acres of rural land in Block I, Grey district. : ' Granted, £150 paid. James Park applied to have valuations for improvements added to the upset price of certain sections oh the southern side of the Hokitika river.

The application was adjourned to the next sitting of the Board, the Chief Surveyor to examine the ground and Teporton the application.

Timber licences were granted to W. Ansell, R. Pearson, and J. Barnett, for the Arahura district. Mr G. F. Hawkins Bpplied to hare part of suburban block IV, near the town of Hokitika, classed as rural land. The Board declined to grant the application at present. Mr Learmonth applied, on behalf of Mr Walmer, for a duplicate licence of a run over some pasturage land, the original document having been lost. The Board could not entertain the application as there is a procedure provided in that respect by the " Lost Licences and Leases Act, 1865." Edward Dixon, by his agent, Mr Learmonth, completed the purchase of section 465, Greymouth, and paid the balance of the purchase money, £50 16s. Daniel Hughes, by his agent, Mr Learmonth, applied for a pasturage licence over 1300 acres of land on the Teremakau river.

Granted, £21 3s 4d rent paid. The Board agreed to recommend the application of J. Schaf for an agricultural lease.

In the cases of M'Fie and Barnett, their applications for agricultural leases were not recommended.

The Board ordered that a block of land near Hohonu creek be thrown open for sale. The Board ordered that Eeserves 455 and 456 be reserved from sale for the uses of a hospital. After some other unimportant business, the Board rose.
