■ IVBB. ELBCTKIC TBLB9BArH,I ARRIVBD. Port Clialmers.—l9th, 10.55 a.m., Taranaki, from Lyttelton. SAILED. Lyttelton.—lßth, 2.15 p.m., Taranaki, for Dimcdin.
The schooners Wild Wave, and Excelsior, which arrived in the roadstead some days tince were towed into theriver on yesterday's tide by the s.s. Waipara, and safely berthed alongside the wharf. The' Wild Wave is from Lyttelton, and the Excelsior from Oamarn, both vessels bring a quantity of grain and flour for thit market. The cargo of the Wild Wave was commenced to be discharged shortly after arrival. The p.s. Charles Edward has sailed from Greymouth for Westport and Nelson without calling at this port. The next steamer from Nelson due here will be the b.b. Kennedy. The b.s. Waipara for Martin's Bay and intermediate Southern ports toiled early this morning (under Government contract.) She took a considerable quantity of cargo, whicb, no doubt, will supply the papulation in those districts for the next mouth or two. There have been no telegrams received respecting the departure of tbe Weat Coait portion of the English Mail via San Francisco, from Neiton. The bjb. Taranaki with the mails arrived in Nelson tome days ago, but no doubt the accident to the tj. Murray on the Buller bar, hat had a great deal to do with the detention. It is probable the mails will be forwarded by the s,s. Kennedy on thfa occasion, without the Murray can be repaired sufficiently to bring them on. H.M.S. Basilisk, the firßt man-of-war which has visited thin port since the Galatea, arrived off the Light-house on Sunday afternoon, and entered the harbor yesterday morning, from Wellington and Ficton. She left Wellington on the 4th initant, and put into Picton the following morning; remained there until Friday, when she left for Nelson, experienced bod weather, whioh compelled her to seek shelter, arriving as above.' She is a paddlesteamer of 1031 tons, 400 horse-power, aud carries 5 64-pound guds.—Neiton Colonist.
