The old Imperial Hotel Theatre, which w..s also u-cd as a lodge room, is uuJergoing the work of demolition, and carpentfc;s are at work pulling it down again. In a few days nothing will bo left standing of a building which has always been f associated with the pleasantest remembrances from the earliest days of Ross.
The water in the Drainage shaft rose considerably during the heavy rains which fell in the middle of the week ; the water was highest at seven or eight o'clock on Thursday ni<jht ; it is, however, going down fast. The pumps are going at full speed, ten and a-half strokes per minute. None of the claims on the Flat were swamped out except the Morning Star.
A man who had suffered much at ths hands of umbrella thieves has outwitted them by purchasing an old fashioned blue cotton umbrella and breaking off six inches of its handle. He leaves it in the church yestibule and depot sitting reom with ; upunity !
