The Times of January 20 reports :—

Business is very quiet, and the grain market Bhares the general depression. We quote -wheat at 4s ; oats, 2s to 2s 3d ; barley i nominal ; flour £12, with downward tendency ; oatmeal £17 ; sharps, pollard, and bran, £3 10s to £i. Harvest prospects are < improving, and should the present fine wea- , ther continue, harvesting will be general in ten days or a fortnight. The crops are looking better than was expected, and the average yield will be much higher, aud the quality better, than last year.
