Friday, January 27
1. Mr Barff to move—" That in the opinion of this Council it i« desirable that the Chairman of the Couniy Council should for the future be elected by the vote of the people, and that a Select Committee be appointed to memorialise the Colonial Legislature on the subject, such Committee to consist of the Chairman, Mr Uonar, Mr Scnnlan, and the mover, to report in ten days." 2. MrScanlantomove — " Thatadvertisements be inserted in the Hokitika, Greymouth, and Dunedin papers, calling for tenders for a bi-monthly steam service between Hokitika and the southern Ports of the County."
3. Mr Button to move—" That no more honorarium be paid to Councilors." 4. Mr Robinson to move: — "That a Committee, consisting of Messrs Bonar, Button, R-id, and the mover, be appointed for the purpose of drawing up a petition to the General Assembly, pointing out the great injustice suffered by the » ounty of Westland under the • Payment of Provinces Act 1870,' and praying for the redress of the same."

6. Mr Bonar to move — U -T!at a Select Commrtee be appointed *o report on suitable blocks of land for forming special sett ements under Part 11. of ' The Westland Waste Lands Act, 1870,' such committee to consist of Messrs Keid, Itobinson, Barff, Chairman, aud the mover. To report this day week.'
7. Mr Robiusou to move — " That the Council go into Committee for the purpose of considering the Mining Regulations and the amendments proposed by the late mining conference.'
S. Mr Barffto move — " That there be laid upon the table of the Council a tracing, showing the proposal lines of road between Hokitika and the Knnieri, and the Big Paddock, together with plans and s-p^oifi-cations of such work"." !). The Chairman to move — " That this Council go into Committee to consider the report of Dr Knight with regard to the construction of roads in the county of Westland, with a view to communicating the <same to the Government Surveyor."
10. Mr Robinson to move — " That the Chairman of the County Council be requested to submit to the Colonial Secretary the desirability of dividing equally between the Road Boards of the ( 'ounty the sums voted by the General Assembly, during last session, for the year endinsj September SO, 1871. Such division being, in (he bpinion of the County Council, more equitable than that proposed by the late County Chairman, Conrad H«os, Esq."
Monday, January 30.
1. Mr Robinson to move — That a return be laid upon the table of all moneys paid during the past two years for the purpose of education, inclusive of moneys paid for inspectors' salary."
2. Mr Robinson to move — " That a return be laid upon the table of all moneys expended during the last two years upon Government House and grounds, including all it<.ms of expendituie connected therewith."
