(_PEB KLECTBI6 TELEGRAPH, j ABBIVED. Westport, 24th, 9.50 a.m. — CharleaEdward, from Hokitika. Lyttelton, 24th, 12.40 p.m— Gothenburg, from Dunedin. SAILED. Westport, 28rd, midnight— Kennedy, for Hokitika.

The s.s. Rangitoto, fl. Mackie, commander, with the New Zealand portion of the English mail, via Suez, on board, left Hobson's Bay at 3 p.m. on the 19th instant. She cleared Fort Philip Heads at 5.45 p.m., and passed Kent's Group the following day at 8 a.m. Experienced light easterly winds with fine weather the whole way across. Arrived and anchored off Hokitika at midnight on the 24th.

The Lioness ran out to the roadstead on yesterday morning's tide, to be in readiness to tow in any of the vessels now due from Melbourne or from New Zealand. In the afternoon a Bail was descried to the northward. The tug steamed down to her, and brought her into the roadstead, when she proved to be the three-masted schooner Rifleman, from Lyttelton. She will be towed in to-day.

The favorite twin screw steamer Kennedy, Captain Whitwell, arrived alongside the wharf at 11.30 a.m. yesterday. She reports having left Nelson at 6.30 p.m. for Motueka, off which place she arrived at 8.15 p.m. Six tons of produce were received on board, and a fresh start was made at 9.30 p.m. Passed the Murray off Wanganni, and arrived off the Buller at 8 p.m., two and a half hours in advance of the latter named steamer. The schooner Ceres being in the roadstead a tow-line was pnt aboard of her and both crossed the bar inwards at 10 p.m. Forty-two tons of cargo were discharged on Monday, and she sailed at midnight for Hokitika. Came down the Coast under easy steam and arrived in the roadstead at 10 a.m. yesterday. The Kennedy brought down a quantity of cargo and a few passengers. She will sail north at 11 o'clock this morning.
