NOTICES OF MOTION.

1. Mr Barff to move—" That in the opinion of this Council it is desirable that the Chairman of the County Council should for the future be elected by the vote of the people, and that a Select Committee be appointed to memorialise the Colonial Legislature on the subject, such Committee to consist of the Chairman, Mr Bonar, Mr Scanlan, and the mover, to report in ten days." 2. Mr Scanlan to move — " That advertisements be inserted in the Ilokitika, Greymouth, and Dunedin papers, calling ibr tenders for a bi-monthly steam service between Ilokitika and the southern Ports of the County."
3. Mr Button to move — " That no more honorarium be paid to Councillors."
4. Mr Robinson to move: — "That a Committee, consisting of Messrs Bonar, Button, Reid, and the mover, be appointed for the purpose of drawing up a petition to the General Assembly, pointing out the great injustice suffered by the County of Westland under the ' Payment of Provinces Act 1870,' and praying for the redress of the same."
5. Mr Barff to move— " That a Select Committee be appointed to consider and report upon the petition of the settlers in the Arahura district, praying for the construction of a road, such Committee to consist of Messrs Reid, Bonar, Robinson, and the mover. To report in a week." 6. Mr Bonar to move — " That a Select Committee be appointed to report on suitable blocks of land for forming special settlements under Part 11. of ' The Westland Waste Lands Act, 1870,' such committee to consist of Messrs Reid, Eobinson, Barff, Chairman, and the mover. To report this day week.'
7. Mr Robinson to move—" That the Council go into Committee for the purpose of considering the Mining Regulations and the amendments proposed by the late mining conference.'
