Jacobs and Isaacs' store has been burnt down. The building belonged to Mr Wm. Wilson 1 , and was insured for £1000.
Jacobs aud Isaacs' stock was also insured for £1000 ; £750 in the New Zealand, and £250 in the Globe companies.

5.1 5 p.tn. Dr. Featherstone has returned from MantaWatD, having settled matters satisfactorily with that portion of the natives, who do not wish to sell their portion of the block, by setting apart for them a tract of 5000 acres as their reserve. The Lands' Coutt, yesterday, ratified the arrangement.
George H. Harris, clerk in the Post Office, Dunedin, and Frederick Basire, Postmaster, at Port Chalmers, have been gazetted as dismissed from the public service,
The G-overnor lias gone from Wangahui to Pafcea overland.
The wreck of the Taranaki has been at length rai?ed completely, the water pumped out, and she is now afloat.
