KANIERI ROAD BOARD.

A meeting of the Kanieri Road Board Avas held at the Court House, Kanieri, on Thursday, 28th October, 1868. Present — H. L. Robinsou, chairman ; Messrs Dale, Rym and Mitchell. The minutes of the previous meeting were read and confirmed. The following tenders Avere received for making the track from Arthur's Town .to Woodstock. J. Burgan, £2 per chain inclusive of culverts. A. Spence, £l 14s 6d per chain inclusive of culverts. J. Kennedy, £1 17s 6d per chain, and £5 extra for each culvert. Proposed by Mr Ryan and seconded by Mr Mitchell, the tender of A. Spence and Co., be accepted. A proposed plan of Bridge for the Kanieri River was received from Messrs Kerr and Hogg. Tavo plans were also received from Mr W. Smith, one of which Avas adopted for consideration. A petition was received from the inhabitants of the Kanieri calling the attention of 1 the Board to the present state of the main road through the toAvn. A letter from Mr Kennedy applying for os per chain for extra work performed by him in making the Paddock Track Avas read. It Avas moved by Mr Dale, and seconded by Mr Mitchell " That the Overseer of Works be instructed to report on the matter, and that a special meeting Ivj called for Saturday next to consider the" subject. A letter from the County Secretary enclosing a cheque for £166 13s 4d, being the amount of surplus revenue accruing to the Board for the mouth of September was received. The Board then adjourned until Saturday, 31st October.
