RESIDENT MAGISTRATES' COURT-
« Friday, OOtober 30i (Before G. G. FitzGerald; Esq., fl/.M.) Conspiracy.— 'John Lewis, Avho had been remanded, but admitted to bail, now surrendered, and Avas charged Avith conspiring with one George Lewis to defraud the creditors of him the said John Lewis.— Mr Button appeared to conduct the prosecution, aud Mr Rees for the prisoner. — By consent the evidence taken at the examination of John Lewis^vas admitted, and read over. — The prisoner, on being called on, said he intended to reserve his defence. — Prisoner Avas then committed to take his trial at the next sessions of the Supreme Court to be holden at Hokitika. Bail Was allowed, himself in £200 and two sureties in the sum of £100 each. Obstructing the Public Thoroughfare.—Michael MoHoy Avas charged, on the information of the Inspector of Nuisances,, Avith obstructing- a public thoroughfare by erecting a building on the ocean beach, and was fined 10s and costs. CIVIL CASE. Cassidy v. Reeley — His Worship gave judgment in this case for plaintiff for £15 with £3 costs. The court then adjourned until tomorrow (this day) at 11 a.m.
