The following is a xeturn of the prisoners confined in the County Gaol, Hokitika, for the week ending 26th September, 1838 :— Undergoing sentences of penal servitude, 9 males ; undergoing fseutenco3 of hard labor, 31 males and 4 females; imprisonment in default of bail, 2, males and twp females; debtors, 2; total, 47 males, 2 females; received duriug the week, 4; discharged during tho week, 0. Captain and District Adjutant Stark returned to Ilokitikaon Tuesday in the Charles E-lward. We are exceedingly sorry to record that, while steppiug on board the steamer at the Grey, by some mischance he severely sprained his ankle, and is now confined to his bed. He is attended by Dr. Derraott, and will probably be able to resume hh duties ia^ about v. week. ' '
