MUNICIPAL ELECTIONS
To the Editor of the West Coast Times
and Ohservar.
Sin, — In a very well-conceived article in yesterday's (i\ionday's) issue of the TiMrs, you advocate the meeting of the candidates with the electors, in frank nnd open con-^ ference, for the approval, and selection of the three fittest men to represent the constituency in the Borough Council. This course has been beneficially adopted in Victoria. Now, S ; r, I, as one of the candidates, being the first in the field, and the only one with an original programme, would much like to see your proposal carried out — that the electors may sift the
wheat from the chaff (such being very abundant at our meetings), and having selected their men,- " see them through it/ to the gratification of all concerned. I would fuggest the Du!<e of Edinburgh Theatre, and will contribute my share of the expense.
I am, Sir, Yours, &c, JOHN CROSS. Weld-street, Cept. 29, 1868.
