On Wednesday evening last the half yearly meeting of the Ilokitika Literary Society, wa9 held in the reading room. Reports from the Treasurer and Secretary wore submitted to the meeting, and approved of. Tho condition and prospects of the society were on the whole considered satisfactory— -tho report showing that much had been already achieved and more remained to be accomplished. Strong hopes were expressed of procuring a site, and possibly a building, through tho influence of tho Hon. John Hall, who had showed groat interest in tho affairs of tho institution. The former officers were unanimously re-elected, viz., Messrs 0. E. Button, W. L. Ueid, W. Wilkinson, and M. Whylelaw, to tho respective offices of Fresidont, Vice-President, Treasurer, and Secretary ; and a Committeo was appointed, consisting of Messrs Alcorn, Mowat, Macfarlane, Polo, Jenkins, Solomon, Hume, Waller, Bowman, Jack, D. Stuart, and 0. Campbell. After a vote of thanks had been passed to the Secretary, and the former office bearers and Committee, the meeting separated,
