DUNEDIN.

The "Daily Tunes" of the 9th instant, reports :—: — Business has been steady during the past week, but there has been little life in the operations in the import market, and no disposition to" transactions beyond current requirements. The only goods which have suffered any noticeable change have been breadstuff's, which have advanced in consequence of i he intelligence from the Australian Colonies. The millers now sell Provincial flour at Ll2 10s to Ll3, and holders of Adelaide demand Ll6 10a. Good samples of

wheat are considered worth 5s 6d to 5s 9d, and asking prices for oals 2s 4d to 2s sd. New Patna rice is quoted at an advance of five per cent. The business done in provisions has, in consequence of the disinclination of importers to sell at current rates, been light. The stock of guaranteed hams and bacon moderate; second-rate parcels are more numerous. Malt liquors, both bulk and bottled, pass into conBumption gradually, but the individual transactions are only noticeable from their smallness ; prices are birely remunerative, but there is no present prospect of improvement. Wines and spirits command no notice; at present there seems a disposition to believe that first-class brandies will improve, but no speculative transactions have transpired : in the meantime, Hennessy's and Martells pale stand at 63 9d. The large amount of teas coming forward has had the effect of limiting present sale's ; privately but little is doing — prices are,*-_however, steady. A few sale 3 of sugar have been made, both privately and by auction ; on the whole, pricps have been about maintained. Hops continue high ; pale English (1866) are scarce. Malt firm at late quotations. Kerosene remains very depressed ; the present large stock precludes the nope of any speedy improvement.
