SYDNEY.
By the Lizzie Coleson we have Sydney papers to the 28th ult. The "Herald" of the 27th contains the latest commercial report, as follows : —
The only noticeable feature in commercial affairs to-day has been a stir in the bi'eadstuffs market, owing to telegrams having been received from South Australia that the injury to the wheat crop is likely to be much more general than was anticipated. Sales of Adelaide flour were made this morning at Llo, and later in the dny Lls 103 was asked for best brands. For wheat, agents of Adelaide houses decline to name a price at present. The cargo of Chilian ex Sylphide was all placed by Messrs Stubbs and Co , yesterday, at fi-om 4s 11 £d., for badly damaged, up to 5s 4d for best. This sudden change in the market is likely to lead to large imports from New Zealand, where considerable stocks are held and prices are low. Iv candles small sales have been made at ll?d, for a leading brand in 1-lb packages ; secondclass are offering at £d to |d less; light weights are much inquired for. Ale, in bulk and glass, continues very steady at late quotations. Marten's case brandy is hardly so firm, and is offering at 245. Salt is also easier, and parcels to arrive are offering at about 5s per lon below last week's rates. Iv tea 3 a fair business is reported, but mostly in low and medium sorts ; really fine new cargoes aye scarce, and importers ask full prices.
