CORONER'S INQUEST.

— ♦ The Inquest on the body of Jamei MAuley was resumed yesterday, at noon, at Casey's Ballarat Hotel, before Dr Beswick, Coroner. Deceased jumped in front of witness, aad an old rotten tree was standing near. The horse's hind feet got entangled in somo supple-jacks which were attached to the rotten tree, and as the hor«e was struggling — the old tree fell — striking deceased on the head, and doubling him up. Witness lifted up deceased and cooyed for help. Deceased asked witness to stick by him ; he complained of pain when he was moved. Witnoia supported deceased xmtil help •ame. Deceased had the use of hi» arms. About an hour some diggers came up and placed deceased on a stretcher, and they carried him into a tent. Deceased was subsequently removed into town. Tho tree which fell on deceased was very large, but at the same time it ■Was very rotten. Dr Young deposod— That on Monday evening last, he saw deceased, who was lying on a stretcher; he was perfectly sensible. Dseeased had' complete paralysis of the lower extremeti?s and partial paralysi* of the arms. Witness considered that deceased was s offering from injury to the bones of the vertebra.
