WESTPORT. I The Westport "Evening Star" of tho 14th rasports of the local markets :—: — Tho continuance of rough -weather during the whole of last week has caused business in town to bo much duller than it would otherwise have been. Since our last report there has been considerable additions to our imports. The Susannah Booth, from Dunedin 3 the Maid of Erin, from Adelaide; the Storm King, from Melbourne ; and the Nightingale, also from Melbourne — all alongside tho wharf — have altered the state of stocks in town, which previous to their arrival were very light. There is now no particular commodity scarce. Flour maintains its price, and may be quoted at from Ll7 to Ll9 for Adelaide, according to brand. Chilian is not so much enquired after. Produce and horsefeed avo in fair demand. Kerosene appears to be in overstock — a quantity being offered during the week as low as 3s per gallon. Tho supply of draught ale is not quite equal to the demand. The quantity of ale consumed in town is generally admitted to exceed that of Hokitika j doubtless, the price at the hotels being half that of^any other refreshment, thus differing from Hokitika, Bomewliat accounts for it. Bottled beers are seldom asked for. There were 110 important auction sales during the week. Mr Jno. Slunro held a sale of freehold building allotments, in Rus3ell street, on Saturday, and disposed of twenty at an average of about L 5 e»eh. A better trade may bo expected during the week, as the past disgusting weather surely cannot last much longer.
