THE S.S. EGMONT
The following address was presented to Captain A. W. Jack and his officers, of the a.s. Egtnont, by the saloon passengers before leaving the ship :—: — We, the undersigned passengers on board, s.s. Egmont, desiro to express our satisfaction and thanks to daptain A. W. Jack and his officers for their kind attention and treatment under the trying circumstances in which we were placed, and we beg to express our entire satisfaction with everything during the voyage. Wishing yourself and officers a prosperous voyage, wo beg to subscribe ourselves your sincere well wishers. W. Huswell Adelaide F. Gale W. Smart R. Malone H. M'lnness T. Gale | J. Goldamidt F. Collins Captain Jack made the following reply : — It affords me much pleasure, ladies and gentlemen, to find that I have succeeded, under trying circumstances, in making your passage by the Egmont from Melbourne to Hokitika an agreeable one. I thank you heartily for your expression of good-will, and I trust that., in any future voyages you may ninko to the West Coast, you may be fortunate enough to escape the harrussing, though unavoidable detention, to which you have on this occasion been subjected.
