TO THE CITIZENS OF HOETTIKA. T INTEND to offer myself fof'EE-, ELECTION as Councillor at the approaching Municipal Election. Private considerations would, most probably, have prevented me from doing so, but calumnious statements have been i so persistently and continuously pub- i lished concerning my public character and conduct, that I feel it imperative to geek my vindication at the hands of the public. I desire to avoid personalities ; nor shall I use any undue means to promote my return. At the same time I am prepared to justify every act I have done during my tenure of office, and will meet the Electors on « different occasions for the purpose of doing so. WI. SHAW. October 1, 1507.
