BY Virtue of the Provisions of the Weights and Measures Ordinance, 1846, and the Weights and Measures Ordinance Amendment Act, 1861. — Notice is hereby given that all weights and all measures for the purpose of sale or any other commercial transaction, excepting glass vessels, earthenware vessels, and casks, must be forthwith taken to the Weights and Measures Office, Police Reserve, Revell street, Hokitika, and there tested and stamped. And after the first day of October next any -person who shall use for purposes of trade or commerce, or who shall have in his possession any weights or measures which shall not have been tested and stamped, will be liable to the penalties imposed by the Ordinance. Groceries, Tea, Sugar, Coffee, Flour, Butter, Arrowroot, Sago, Rice, Barley, Potatoes, Soap (soft and hard), Kerosene Oil, Salt, Biscuits, Vinegar, Pepper, Mustard, Matches, Onions, Martell's or Hennessy's Brandy (per doz.), Port Wine (per doz.). Sherry (per doz.), Porter (per doz.), Olive Oil (per pint). 2. Beef (per lb., without bone), Mutton (per lb., with bone.) 3. Bread, per lb. 4. Milk, per pint. 5. Coals, per ton. 6. New-laid Dggs, per doz, 7. Drugs, on emergency. All articles supplied to the Hospital must be of the best quality, and delivered to the Hospital boatmen, on the written order of the Surgeon Superintendent, and subject to his approval.
