THE WAIMEA WARDEN.
TO THE EDITOB OF THE WJEBT COAST TIMES. Sin — It is currently reported here that our "Warden is about to resign. If such is a fact, we hope the Government will not inflict another tyro in mining matters on us. The district would not be, in such a languishing state if we had an energetic Warden, fully competent to deal with such a rich and extensive district. If Mr Keogh resigns, such a "Warden as Mr Price or Mr Aylmer, who have knowledge of minei's and mining, Avould be more acceptable than another gentleman totally unacquainted with the responsibility of administrating the mining laws, and whose decisions — to say the least of them — are rather eccentric. I am, &c, William Hicksojt. Piper s Flat.
"Youe handwriting is very bad indeed," said a gentleman to a young college friend, who was more addicted to boating and cricketing than to hard study ; "you really ought to learn to write better." — "Ay, ay," returned the young man ; "it is all very well for you to tell me that, but if I wore to write better, people would be finding out how I ipell."
