Each tender must be accompanied by a written security, in a form which may be obtained at any Post Office within the district, for a sum equal to 20 per cent, of the amount of tho tender, aud to be enclosed with tho tender, binding the tenderer to take up the servicoi.tendered for, and sign the necessary Contract Bond, in the event of his tender being accepted. Post Office, Hokitika, September 7, 1867. 10183 WESTLAND BOARD OF EDUCATION. mHE BOARD will sit on Wednesday, JL the 16th October next, at 7 o'clock p.m , in the Supreme Court House, Hokitika. Application for .aid must be made in writing not Jafer^'thau the end of this month, the letters being addressed to the Chairman, jEitf Hokitika. To save^themselves trouble and dcla7, persons applying for aid should render their statements explicit, keeping the facts distinct mere expression of opinion. The following are some of the particulars of information required : — "Name of school, tho tenure, situation, way of approach, size of playground, all dimensions of buildings, provision for light, warmth, ventilation, offices, inventory of school-furniture, books, maps ; statement of attendance, the highest number on books, and average for each week or month since commencement ; accounts of income from all sources, and expenditure, in as much detail as possible ; school hours, subjects taught, school fees, name of teacher, his various qualification, testimonials, remuneration, nature of his contract with managers V names of managers, by whom appointed'; whether any denominational catechism is used, and its use enforced, or whether the school is exclusive in any manner. School-managers are requested to add any particulars they think fit, and to subjoin what comments they wish to make. Tho Board cannot administer tho. funds which have been Toted, in rewarding past efforts of school managers, no matter how meritorious ; but tho information now supplied may become a good basis for a grant of aid afterwards. Owners of private-adventure schools, who claim to bo assisted out of public money, had better, when they apply to the Board, state the whole of the grounds why they do so. ROBERT ABBOTT, Chaibmax.
