PBOM "THE CHBISTCHUBCH PAPEBS. Wellington, Aug. 80, 6.40 p.m. On the motion for going into Coinniittee of supply last night, Messrs. Yogel and Fitzherbert spoke five hours. Mr Vogel's resolution condemed the proposal to raise a further loan under the Three Million Act. Mr Fitzherbert's amendment expressed the necessity of a loan tinder the same Act or another. Mr Stevens inov.ed the adjournment to this evening. Ministers will regard the division as an expression, on their financial policy. The old Opposition is broken up by the defection of Auckland. There is no organised action amongst the many Southern members opposed to portions of the Ministerial policy. Sept. 2, 6.30. Messrs. Stevens, Curtis, and Travers spoke strongly against the Ministerial Finance last night; Messrs Campbell, Hepburn, and J. O'Neill spoke in favor. Mr Jollie moved the adjournment of the debate. There was a full meetiug of Northern members of botli HouSe3 to*dar, in reference to the Governor's recall*.
