RESIDENT MAGISTRATE'S COURT.
(Before G. G. Fitzgerald, Esq., R.M.) Wednesday, December 12. Lunacy. — Wm. Crane was charged with being of unsound mind, and on the evidence of Dr Ryley he was committed to tho Hokitika Hosp tnl. Larceny.— Frank S. Carroll was charged with larceny as a bailee. Mr Rees appeared for tb.3 prosecution, and stated that the money hid been paid to him by the defendant, as the solicitor of thfe prosecutor, and that the warrant was .ssued by pro-ccutor while ignorant of this fj,ut. Ho (Mr R?es) was insiruclcd to withdraw the information, and he sincerely regretted that Mr Carroll should have been placed in such an unfortunate and undeserved position. Mi* Carroll was immediately discharged.
Mtjbdeb. — James Wilson, on remand, clnrgod with t':o wilful murlcr of George Dobson, was further remanded till Friday next, the 14th instant. CIVIL CASE. Strong and party v. Nces and party. — His Worship gave judgment in this case, anl ordered a nonsuit to be recorded, on the ground that tlie plaintiffs had not completed their contract.
