The commercial importance of the West Coast Goldfields, and their extensive busl* ness dealings with other ports of New Zealand, as well as with tbe Australian colonies, render a full and accurate Direc* tory not only desirable but an actual ne» cessity to men of bußiness. The printers and publishers of the present work, having previously brought out most successfully similar works in Dunedin and Tnvercargill £or the past fire yesre, undertake the present task with a feeling that the public will repose confidence in their ability to produce a comprehensive and thoroughly reliable Directory of ihese Goldfields, and certainly not inferior to any published in other places.
