Queenscliff, October 22. One of the largest hauls of fish ever made here was got on Saturday by one of Messrs "Watson's bbo,ts. It consisted of 100 has iets of trout, salmon, flathead. &c. One of the Barwon's boats when coming from the steamer Western on Sunday morning, was capsized in the surf. The crew, however, got ashore all safe. October 23. A man named J. W. Sinfield has been committed for trial by the Queenscliff Bench for an assault on a girl eleven years of age Communication was interrupted w'th Syduey, beyond Albury yesterday afternoon, by heavy thunderstorms. Be rch worth, October 25. Dr Paley and Mr Wurdell, of the Public Works department, are now in Beechworth, and have been busily inspecting the asylum for the insane now being erected, aud which is rapidly appproaching completion. It is anticipated that a large number of the inmates of the Yarra Bend will be transferred t > this asylum. Mr Duncan, Inspector of the Industrial Schools, is also here, on a tour of inspection. The exhibition is exciting large numbers of our townspeople to visit Melbourne. Ballarat, October 26. This morning, Constable OS .aughneasy encountered two rough-looking customers in the bush, along the Cheswick roal. Both were. well mounted aud fully armed. On attempting to arrest them, revolvers were presented at him, but the caps snapped, and- the constable succeeded in arresting one of the ruffians. His mate got away, and the police are now out in search of him.
