West Coast Times Office, Friday Evening. The amount of import duty collected at tlie Custom House to-day was L3G3 2s Bd. The following list of nicruhnndise cleaved shews its distribution : —
No marked alteration can be noted in the value of staples during the current week, our last quotations having been very generally maintained. The bulk of goods landed during the week have gone into store, holders showing no disposition to accept lower, or even our last quotations. The auction sales held during the week, have not been characterised with much spirit, and the major part of the goods offered have not found buyersFlour is easier; L2olos for Adelaide, aud LlB 10s for Chilian, may be considered the present market value. Oats, bran/and chaff, are unaltered. and geneva hare been placed at a slight decline. Bottled ales and porter have changed hands slightly easier than our last quotations. Provisions continue in good supply, without material alteration ; excepting butter, which, being more plentiful, is rather easier, good parcels realising Is lid to 2s Id per lb.
Messrs Carey and Giiles, offered ,on the 26th instant, the cargo of the Little Fred, along'iide, and placed Richardson' f* bottled stout at 13s per dozen ; oats, 6s 7d per bushel ; tea, 90s per half- chest, and several other lines not being landed, were held over. Tho inclemency of tho weather has tetded to check business which, we have little doubt, will improve during the coming week.
