Via Sydney, Oct. 17. The ship Panama, which arrived from California yesterday afternoon, brings dates to the 29th of August. President Johnson 'has granted a free pardon to General C nrad, late a member of the Confederate Congress, under Jeff. Davis. The cholera is rapidly disappearing from the States. f.' The entire town of Mariposa, with the exception of si;c houses, which stand alone amidst the heap of ruins, was totally destroyed by fire on the 25th August. The loss is estimated at 100,000dol. The latest news from Mexico is to the effect that the French troops have evacuated Matamoras and Saltillo. The "New York Post," in its money article, says :— " The cotton market is drooping. Quotation, 35|c."
