The Melbourne " Argus" of the 12th instant says :—": — " A fire, broke out yesterday morning at the Hotham Arms Hotel, situated at the corner of Leveson street and Raglan street, Hotham, and occupied by Mr G. W. Hall. ;Hr Hall had retired to bed about midnight' and at two in the morning was awakened by a strong smell of smoke. He immediately gave tho alarm, and some of the neighbors brought
a ladder, by which he and two of bis children — the only inmates of the house at the time — made their escape, The Hotham and Melbourne fire brigade was promptly in attendance, and. succeeded iv putting out tho fire, but not Idfow pcmtidorftble foww* had bws tone,"
