BRISBANE.

Tuesday, Sept. 18. Parliament met to-day, and there tfas a full attendance of members. The Government propose the following increase on the present duties : — Wine, 3s ; ale", Sd ; tea, 3d ; coffee, 2d ; opium, 10s ; tobacco, 6d ; cigars, Is. The following are the proposed new duties :— Vinegar and cider, 6d per gallon'; salt and vic-e, 403 per ton; chocolate, 4d per Ib. ; dried fruits, &d per Ib. The Government also proposes 10 per cent, ad valorem duties, with some exceptions ; stamp duties on bills, cheques, receipts, bank notes, transfers, &c. The addition to tbe revenue by the imposition of these duties is animated at L 225,000 v . Treasury notes arejro be issued to the extent of L 300,000, based on gold and Treasury bills. i Wednesday evening, Sept. 19. The Assembly passed the additional Customs Bill, the only alteration being ad valorem duties fixed at seven and a half percent. ; exemption' being the same as Sydney, with additions of machinery, fencing wire, steamers, and sailing vessels. Tbe Customs closed to-day pending the passage of the bill. The Assembly passed resolutions for Stamp Duties, and the issue of Treasury Notes Bills, was read* a first time, and the second reading fixed for Friday next.
