SOUTH AUSTRALIA.
We have Adelaide filo3 to the 12th instant, but they contain no nows of importance. Tho '• Register" of the Btli inst. has the following, relative to the meeting of the creditors ot Messrs Philip Levi and Co. : — " A meeting of tho creditors of Messrs Philip Levi and Co. (about twenty-five being present) was hsld, at their office, on Friday afternoon. It was resolved that nothing should be made public except at tho discretion of tho chairman (Hon. H. Ayers), by whom we are informed that the estate is to^be assigned to himself, in conjunction with Messrfe R. B. Smith, W. S. Douglas (manager of the^Bank of South Australia), aiicl William Townsend, M.P. » He further informs us that the kindest feeling .was expressed towards tho firm. As Mr Ayers de-clines'-fu,rnishing any statement of liabilities nnd assets, we do not think we should be right in giving currency to unauthenticated rumors ; but we may say that tho balance-sheet is geue'rally believed to show a considerable 'surplus in fiivor of the firm."
