The amount of import duty collected at the Custom House to-day was £130 19s 3d The following list of merchandise cleared shews its distribution :—^

There has been a better feeling in the flour market, stocks being light, holders have been firmer^-L22» for Adelaide, and L2l for Chilian, are now the prices wanted and obtained since late Victorian quotations (on a firm market) — say, for Adelaide, Ll6; Californiau, Ll5 15s. Holders here have shown no di»| osition to sell, anticipating better prices. Oats are scaice, and command a high figure, say 10s to lls per bushel. Supplies, supposed to be close at hand, may case the market ; but in the absence of arrivals -higher figures may be anticipated. . . Bran is in good supply, at 2s 8d to 3b. principal auction marts, this week,- the .following prices were tcaliscd, giving a fair reflex of our market: — Neva candles, "Is 3jd; other brands, Is ; crushed loaf sugnr T 7d; bottled fruits, 15s 9d to 18s; jams, English, llsGd; colonial, lls ; salmon, «llb, '21s; ditto, 'Jibs, 30s ; hams*, York, Is 4id ; Bacon, colonial, Is Id ; Raisins, Cape, 9.} d ; mu&catels, in quarter boxes, Is Ud ; currants, 8d ; carraway seeds, 8d per lb ; pearl barley, 38s Cd per cwt ; split peas, 335;, green peas, 58s 5 oatmeal (Bencraft), 355 ; castor oil, half pints, 10s per doz ; salad oil, 12s 6d ; sardines', halves, 14s 6d, and sundry other goods, which w<re freely- taken at good prices. There cannot now, we think, be any* doubt that a centinuance of .judicious shipments to this market will result otherwise than profitable to importers.
