The Herbert Ministry has succumbed to the popular feeling against it, and resigned. Mr Arthur Macdlister was tent for, and the late Ministry reinstated. Mr Macalister re-umed office, pledged, to the policy lately propounded by his Government to Parliament, and embodied in their Lasid Bill, both as to the price of knd and the leasing clauses. The new Ad.ninistration consists of Macalister, Premier; M-Leau, Treasurer; Bell, Lands and Works; Lilley, Attorney-General. And all but Mr M'Lean have been returned unopposed.
A public meeting has been held £or the purpose o? talcing steps to petition Her Majesty the Queen to recall His. Excellency Sii' Georgo Bo wen from the governorship of the colony. The meeting was a crowded one, but perfect order was maintained, 'the -petition has been signed by 3000 peisons.
