The " Argus" of tho 14, th inst. reports :—

In the import markets business has opened for the week witli a greatly improved aspect, a sense of relief having been communicated by tho telegraphic news published this morning, which lias been tlie means of allaying tlie fears which have been so freely indulged, and completely silenced the panic-makers and croakers, so successful of late in creating uneasiness and distrust. The market for breadstuff's is quiet, and sales of flour — which are but trifling— are made on slightly easier terms. For first brands Adelaide town Hour, we quote LIG to LIG ss, and for country made, Lls to LI 5 fis. In wheat nothing new has come under our notice. The Ocean, from California, arrived to-day, brings about 400 tons wheat, nuil about 100 tons barley. Tho entile cargo was sold some time ago to arrive. Oats cannot he moved easily, and prices reriiaih noininal at 5s 6d to Hi 9d. Of maize we hear of retail sales at ss, Malt continues to 'meet with a good deal of notice, anil as much as 9s 6d ottered for a bin now landing, was refused. 1500 bushels Californian malt found a purchaser on private terms ; and 1200 bushels Hamburg malt were disposed of at about 8s 9d, an advance on last week's rates. A parcel of linseed was quitted at 5s 3d in drums. Teas have met with considerable attention, advices being thought favorable towards an advance. Sales of about LBOOO worth of good congous, pending on Saturday," have since been closed, and further transatt* tions are under negotiation. Private telegrams from Foo Chow to 23rd June, report the de 1 nurture for Melbourne on 14th of the Charlotte.
