MEXICO.
New York, 22nd May.— The details of an engagement between the Liberals under Corona, and the Imperial gamson at Mazatlan, show that the Liberals gained a brilliant victory, and that Corona is now master of the position; having attacked and routed another co> operating expedition. ' Ortega, the opponent of Juarez, proposes to enter Mexico from California. A letter has been received from Gen. Alvarez, at la Providencia, near Aeapulco, conveying intelligence of several movements by the opposing Liberal and Imperial forces in Southern Mexico. The Imperial forces, which have been watching the Liberals under General, Porifiero Diaz, having invaded tho state of Guerrero, General Diaz flanked him, and, marching straight on the city of Oaxiica, laid siege to it with a force of 2000 men. The Imperialists advanced into Guerrero as far as Ometepec, and then rushed back in all haste to endeavor to raise, the siege of OxacaGeneral Diaz is highly popular with all classes of Mexicans and a native of Oaxaca. As the whole native population in the city was warmly in his favor, it was believed that he would capture Oaxaca before it could be relieved by the Imperialists. Oaxaca is about equi-distant from Vera Cruz and the city of Mexico, and its capture would be a severe blow to Imperalism in Southern Mexico.
