DUNEDIN.
The "Daily Times," of the 23rd inst. reports : —
The uneasy fueling excite.l by the causeless panic of Friday has entirely passpd away, and !>UMni>ss lias resumed its regular course. In breadstuu\ the market has not experience 1 ! any alteration in value, and th';rc .are no transact ions taking place beyond the ordinary trade parcels of Hour. Considerable operations could only be effected by the acceptance of much reduced rates. Sugars retain their high value ; of the meagre stock held, good counters aud grey crystals form but a small proportion, the extremes in quality being more abundant. A satisfactory trade in tea 3 has been done, but holders have not effected the improvement in price which the aspect, of the market warrant", and which it seems certain must take pliice. In malt liquors, both bulk and glass, the tr&usaotions have been trifiing, but at sustained prices. In provisions, nothing doing. How fur the Mipplies of goods from Britain may be affected by the financial derangements, the intelligence of whnh has just reached us, depend upou the speedy subsidence, or protracted continuance of the difficulty ; it will, however, fov a longer or shorter time, arrest the iucreased shipments to these colonies, which the news by the previous mail warranted our calculating upon.
