We see by tho " Lyttelron Times" tli-.t tho schooner Spray cleared Lyttulton for Ilokitika on- the 20th inst.
The hull, fittings, and machinery of tlio s s. Barwon were sold for L3OOO. Tf ia e-timatod that L2OOO will barely cover the cost of relaunching her.
The P.N.Z. & A."R.M. Co.'s vs. Airelale, lleikleham, commander, left Dunorfcn nn the 23rd inst., at 4 p.m.. nnrt arrived at Bluff IJarbor the next -lay at 8-30 a.m. Left for IL>kitika at 10 30 a.m., an»l an< hored olf the bar at 5 a.m. on the 26th. Throughout tho trip, the Airedale experienced beautiful weather. She. made a remarkably smart run of 43 hou>s, 30 minutes from (he Bluff and brings 62 pa-»sm-gers for Hokitika and 14 for G-roymouth, besides a full cargo, consisting chietiy of protiuce. The Airedale reports passing the Lord Ashley, bound to the Bluff, at 9 p.m. on the 24th off tho West Cape.
After a long absence at the Grey, tho p.s. Persevere has again returned to her old .quarters, the agents having determined that, as the Gr/iy bar has a greater depth of water than that of Hokilikn, tho Yarra, p.s. shall work the former, whilst tho Persevere, being of lighter draught .is to attend to this port until the channel dcrpen3, when the two boat* wDI again change places. Tho Yarra left for Ovreymouth yesterday, aud tho Persevere arrived here about tho same time, and, after attending to the Airedale all day, ran into the river on tho cvenirg's tide. We have much pleasure iv Noticing tho arrival of the p.s. Lyttelton, which entered the river yesterday from Grpymoutji. Twelve months aero, she was for a sho-t time trading between Nels n and Hokitika, and nfterwards ran from Nelson to Greymouth. She was, however, taken off the berth, and latterly has been engajed upon the East Coast, between Lyttelton, Motueka. and Xfelson. For tho present, she is placed upon the berth between this port and Okarita. T :.! Lyttelton seems a handy, stronglyrbuilt boat, but rather too l^ort ft»P b|f wqrfc, §l»e is well found, inp^yy
\\t-\i\. ..,.ti> ia-i oi.^iiKf, ot tio-hor.io iHMiur, arc in ■ xc dent condition ami very compactly built. Although rather stumpy, we judge tho little frleum. r to bo a lively boat in a eea-wa\, ai.d most suitable for tho trade she is at preseut engaged in when the nurf is not too heavy.
