WESTLAND DISTRICT ELECTION.

The following are the complete polling returns for the Goldfields, from which it will be seen that two votea have been recorded to Mr Hoss, out of that gentleman's immediate district. A greater farce was, perhaps, never perpetrated, and what the Canterbury people will think of the demand of the diggers for universal representation in the Provincial Council, it is hard to say.

Messrs Barff and Hoos are therefore duly elected, although the poll bas not yet been officially declared.

Barff Hokitika 12 Grreymouth 0 Kanieri 15 Waimea 47 Totara 94 Okarita 4 Hoos 0 0 0 1 80 1 Cassius 2 0 2 6 5 0 \ Total 172 82 15.
