Tho heavy surf on tho bar yesterday pro' vented the departure of Iho several vessels outward bound, tho s.s. Kennedy being ono of them. Wo regret tho untoward deliml ion of this smart and punctual stenmer — although at all times pleased to sco her grace tho wharf — aud hopo that tho sea will hsvo nuflicicntly subsided to permit her leaving to-day. SuprosED Loss 01? the Suip Blackbvux. — Tho circumstances attending tho finding of a portion of a boat a 6hort timo sinco at tho Richmond Rivor, is doubtless fresh in tho minds of our readers. By a letter received from tho Clarenco Rivor, it is reported that the after portion of a boat, corresponding witli tho above-mentioned, has been found by somo persons on tho beach of tho Clarcnno River ; on tho tuck of tho boat is painted " Blackburn, Liverpool," and it contains a coder batten and somo canvas. Tho part of tho boat found at tho Richmond, had tho privato signal of Potter Brothers, of Liverpool, painted on it. Thoro is too much reason to concludo that tho Blackburn has mot with somo disaster but her fato is as yet unknown. It is, howover, possible that somo passing vessel has picked up tho survivors, and cast tho boat adrift, but it is a mystery how it reached the shores of Australia. It is very improbable tho ship has beon wrecked on tin's coast, as her last charter was from Snu Francisco, to load guano at Baker's Island for Falmouth. Sho sailed in December last, and if sho fulfillod her chartor, it is not possiblo sho would pass near Australia. Thcro is only ono Blackburn, which bolongs to Potter Brothors, of Liverpool. Sho is a vessel of 953 tons, built in 1854, and is classed Al for fourtoen years. Sho is commanded by Captain Murphy, who, we are informed, has his wife on board. Tho Blackburn belongs to tho samo owners as tho Dora, which left hero a short timo since, and the Pegasus, now in port. Ono of Iho crew who deserted tho Blackburn arrived in Sydney a short timo since, in tho brig Lallah Rookh 5 and from him wo learn that tho ship sailed from San Francisco for Honolulu, where sho took on board a quantity of chain for mooring purposes, which was required at Baker's Island, as thoro is no harbor, and vessols loading are in a vory exposed position. Tho Blackburn, with much difficulty, on account of bad weather, succeeded in getting loaded with 1300 tons of guano. Sho sailed corly in February last for Falmouth, for orders, but having an insufficient supply of water, sho lioio up for Upolo, C6O miles distant, whoro she arrivod safely, having had fiiio weather, and it was hero that tho seaman abovo mentioned deserted her. Captain Murphy, however, took ill at this place, and remained fourteen days. Sailed again on tho 241h February, and has not since beon heard of. Our informant says tho ship was overloaded, and quite incapable of making a voyage round tho Horn; hence his reason for deserting. There woro eighteen of a crew on board, besides the enptain'B.wifo. It is probable the vessel, having hecome leaky, has been trying to reach this port. Baker's Island is about fourteen miles north of tho equator, in about 175 degrees of west longitude. — "Sydney Empire."
