r\ ENTLEMEN,— I have much ploasuro in acceding to the request contained in your Requisition of yesterday, inviting mo to allow myself to bo nominated as one of tho members of the Municipal Council now shortly to be established in Hokitika. I bavo watched with much interost tho steady and certain advancement of Westland ; and look with tho .most cheerful confidence to its future; and I will, if elected, do my utmost to aid all moasuros that I may conceive to bo conducivo to its prosperity. I must in all fairness tell you that I am rather inoxporionced on matters connected with Municipal Government; so that all I can honestly pledge myself to is, that I will unswervingly and unflinchingly endeavor to do my duty, should I attain tho honor you are dosirous of ontrusting mo with.
