THE STEVENS' TROUPE.
TO TUB EDITOR OV TUB WEST COAST TIMB9. Sib, — My attention has been called to an advertisement whioh appeared in your issue of this morning, in which Mr G-. Donne announces " that haying failed to effect arrango* monts with mo for tho performances of tho abovo troupe, he has been compelled to take tho room at tho Shakspoare Hotel." As I considor such an announcement reflects some* what on mysolf, I bog through tho medium of your columns, to state that I am at all timos anxious to introduco ovory availablo talent to tho patrons of my thoatro, and I oflbrod what I considorod, very fair terms to Mr Donuo 'for tho sorvicos of tho troupo. I havo a largo and oxponsivo corps dramalique oinployod in my establishment, and I should not be justified in making starring engagements, unless I saw it oloarly demonstrated that both myself and tho play goors of Hokitika would be bohofltod thoroby. I mako those remarks in 110 hostile fooling towards Mr Stevens, whose engagement in Hokitika will, I trust, bo a lucrative ono ; but I protest against tho mention of tho Priuce of Wales Opora Houso and its management in any advertiaomont not sanotioned by mo. I am, sir, Your obdt. servant,Jamks J. Bahtlett, Proprietor and Mauuger. Prince of Wales Opera Houso, Tuesday ovoning, Juno 19.
