PROCLAMATION.

By His Honor William Sefton Moorhouse, Superintendent of the Province of Canterbury. I Whereas a writ was issued by the Governor of New Zealand to William Donald, Esq., Principle Returning Officer for the electoral district of the Province of Canterbury, requiring and commanding him to cause to be elected, by voters duly qualified for that purpose, freely and indifferently, and in manner and form by law prescribed, a legally qualified person to serve as Superintendent for the said Province of Canterbury: and whereas (after a nomination on the twenty-third day of May ultimo, and a poll on the thirtieth day of the same month) tho said Principle Returning Officer did, upon this ft day of June, 1866, at a meeting Land notified by him for that purpose, ;ne Towo. Hall, Christchurch, openly defelaro and publicly notify that I. William Sefton Moorhouse, was duly elected to 'be Superintendent of tho Province of Canterbury : Now, therefore, I do hereby proclaim and declare that 1 have assumed the office of Superintendent of the Province of Canterbury accordingly; and I hereby call upon the inhabitants of the said Province to be aiding and assistiug me therein. Given under my hand, and issued under the Public Seal of the Province of Cantorbury at Christchurch, this eight day of June, one thousand eight hundred and sixty-six. W. S. Provincial Secretary's Office, Chriatcburch, June 8, 1866 His Honor the Superintendent directs it to be notified that he \ns been pleased to appoint the undermentioned persons to be Members of his Executive Council : — Henry John Tahcrcd, Esq., to be President. Francis Edward Stewart, Esq., to be Provincial Secretary and Secretary for Public Works. Francis James Garrick, Esq., to be Provincial Solicitor. Thomas Cass, Esq. F. E ; Stewart.
