In tho market for broadstuffs, business in flour has not boon large. Sales of Adoluido brands bavo boon confinod" to trado purchases at up -to £17 103 for bost . brands. Transactions in Chilian oro said to bo ponding. For wheat tboro is decidndly moro inquiry. All tbo foroigu coming to hand for which importers aro prepared to accept markot rates is eagerly purchased by tho millers. Tho Jamos Vinuicomb, from California, via Sydnoy, brings 30,000 bushels of wheat, tho half of which lias alroady been disposed of at a prico fully sustaining tho higbost rates 1 hithorto realised, aud tho remainder— 15,000 bushels — if not alroady closed for, was at least on tho point of being so lato this afternoon. For a shipment of Tasmanian wheat, landing, 7s 2d on tbo wharf was realised. In oats, little has transpired. Buyers aro numerous onough, but as yet do not feol disposed to pay tho pricos asked. Somo small parcolsbavo been placed at 5s 3d andupwurds 5 and wo understand thnt tho snlo of a largo parcel for oxport is pending. Barley is quiot, and without any operations worth special notice. Maize is firmer ; for a fow small parcels sold to-day 5s 2d was paid. Sugars aro moved off at long prices j privato sales aro reported at L 36 for browns, Lll for fine countoi'3, and L 43 for groyish crystals, for trado purposes. Tbo auction salo of damaged resulted in tho disposal of all offered, 3687 bags, a 9 thoy stood, at prices, cosh, quite up to tbo rates realised for sound on terms. Operations intoas aro at present confined to purchases for trado requirements. Ono or two parcels, comprising a fow hundred balfcbosts of rather hotter than common congou, bavo found buyors at, Is 7£d in bond. A parcel of 1865 bops, of ratbor low quality, has beon sold on privato terms. Stout is moro diflleult to sell. Tho shipments latoly arrivod. of Blood's wero sold to arrivo, and tho prico ainco fixed, wo understand, is 13s, Shipments of ether brands aro also in a similur position. Further sales of Bass's triangle ale aro roported, but at 9s 6d. A sudden domand has sprung up for turps, but though numorous enquiries, which may yet load to an udvanco, have been experienced, wo bavo not vot hoard of any actual transactions. Kerosono is quiet, but firm, and though tho Honnan and Pursuit have brought somo 7200 cases into stock, yot as upwards ef 5300 cases of thoso wero sold to arrive, and as tho position of stocks in tho neighbouring colonies is vory favorable, every confidence is entertained in tho future of tin's market. The James Chc&ton, which appears amongst tho arrivals, is from Boston, and brings an ontiro cargo of lumber, but tho roarkofc baring beon vory bare of Btock, this will be a well- timed addition. Late advices from San Francisco report two vt-ssols as having sailed from Puget Sound for Molbourno with timber— tho Dublin, with 400,000 fodt, chiefly square timbor. There woro no vessels loading.
