"In tho import markets to-day business generally has worn rather a quiet look, and transactions havo not been of much importance. In tho market for breadstufts wo notice a littlo moro inquiry for flour, ohiefly for transhipment, and sales of ■ first-class brands of Adelaide — Puffiold's Margaroy's, nnd Hnrt's — to tho extent of nearly a hundred tons, havo been made at Ll7 10s. We also hear of Chilian flour having been resold in quantity at an advanco on prices realised a fow days ago. No operations in wheat have* oome under our notico, though wo understand business is ponding. Oats are dull, but quotations of 5s 3d to 5h 6d vomnin unaltered, The Adolino Burko, which has
arrived to-ilay from San Francisco, is reported to bring nothing but oats, No sales of barloy aro montionod ; pricos aro steady at 5s to 5s 3d. Tho General Cobb, also frem California, is said to bo mostly loaded with this grain. Of maizo, wo hear of sovoral saleß at ss. Adeloido bran has Jboon run up to lj lid to 2s, whioh is now roalisod. Woolpacks continue to attract a good deal of notico. Further Bales hivvo boen mado at 4s 6'l on tho spot, and some ninety balos to avrivo havo found buyors at a similar figure. Rum is vory activoly sought aftor. A shipmont of quarter-casks to arrivo, of ton per cent, and thirty por cont., has boen placed at 3s 6d, and up to 4s. A small lot of R.W.P. rum, ton per cont 0.p,, to laud, has boon quitted at tho oxtromo figures of 3s 9d and 4s. A parcel of Houncssy's bulk, brandy, in hhds and quarter-casks, has been sold at somewhat under 7s. Case whisky is much wanted, and oporations aro only ohocke'd by tho oxtromo ratos demanded by holders-. Sales, howovor, aro roported at 12s. Snlos of JDKZ geneva havo boen eflbofced at 12s Gd. A shipment of Bass's triangle alo has boon placed at 9s 3d per dozon. Of bulk ales wo hoar of a parcol of Allsopp's having boon disposed of at £6 5s in bond. In dried fruits, currants command increased notico, and in ordor to suit requirements, all tho shipments now landing havo boon parcelled out amongst tho trado nt up to 7d.' Oilmen's storos aro largoly sold to arrive, a shipment) por Dovor Castlo, of about 400 casos, consisting principally of an ordinary brand of pickles, wns quitted at equal to 9s Gd, in bond, for this description of stores ; and a shipmont of 600 caso3, comprising salad oils, sardines, rod herrings, Blnrch, &a, changed hands nt full market ratos. In tons wo learn of sales to tho oxtent of 500 ohests, in chests and hnlf-ohests, at- prices rising from Is 4 Jd for ordinury, to Is lOd for fino medium congous, in bond. Sugars havo beon quiet ; for a considerable parcel of fair medium counters £39 10s was accoptod. To-morrow, a salo of damaged sugars, amounting to nearly 4000 bags, is advertised to take placo. Tho numbor of vessels arriving with kerosono oil has affected tho market somewhat ; wo, howovor, learn that a parcel of nearly 3000 cases has boon disposed of in a lino on private terms."
