Tho boiler is multi-tubular ; tho shell is of best Staffordshire plate, and tho firebox all of Low Moor iron 5 tho tubes aro wrought iron, well disposed for strength, and with ample space"for tho circulation of water, and the settling of sodimont ; the ash pan fits closely to tho bottom of fire-box, and has a flap-door attached to regulate the draught. The boiler is clothed with hair felt, lagged with wood, and cased with sheet iron, and its capacity is larger than usual for the nominal power of tho engine. Tho working part 3of tho engine aro arranged with much simplicity on tho top of the boiler, where they can be well seen and easily got at by an attendant. By an improved self-contained arrangomont of cylinder and steam chest, access can be had to the slide, throttle, and stop-valves, by simply taking off the steam-chest id. The cylinder is also covered with hair felt, wood and sheet iron, in tho samo way as tho boilor, and fitted with connected blow-off cocks and greaso cups. Tho fly-wheel is turned on its periphery, and being accurately counterv?eighted, longitudinal vibration of the engine is prevented, which, when it occurs, not only increases wear and tear, but is a frequent cause of tho driving strap running off. Provision is mado for reversing ■ tho motion of tho engine by a simplo adjustment of tho slide valvo eccentric, and tho speed is regulated by a direct-acting governor. A force pump, drivon vertically from the crank shaft, is attached to tho boiler for supplying it with water ; but a Gifford's injector can be applied instead if required. All pins, eyes, and nuts, aro case hardened ; and self-acting lubricators, wrought out of tho solid material, are fitted to the journals and slides. This engine is fitted with a complete set of case-hardenedjhammers, firing tools, funnel, tube, brush, oil feeder, spare guage glass, spare fusible plug, and a waterproof cover, and furnished with check chains, ock chains, shoe and chain. This engine has been tested under steam at a high pressure before it loft the works. Tho power is calculated at 35lbs pressure of steam in tho boilor, but it may be safely worked at 601bs pressure (tho boilerplates being of oxtra strength, and thoroughly well stayed) at which it would give off double its nominal power. This guage is mado to template and guago thoughout. For further particulars apply to tho auctioneers. RICHARD WSVES& CO., 846$ ' ' ' mavf'SUwt,
