Tho Auckland Chamber of Commorco havo adoptod tho following resolution witk respect to bills of salo ;— " That in tho opinion of tho Chamber fclio present system of bills of sale (as by law authorised) is injurious to fair legitimate trading and to mercantile) morality, and that tho co-oporation of tho other Chambers of Commerce in New Zoaland should bo invited in moving the Government to introduco a Bill into the General Assembly to place bills of sale on the same footing ag other debts, or otherwise to grant relief from their injurious oporation." During the discussion several members pointed out how injurious tho prosent system was, and gave instances from personal experience of creditors having been defrauded through supplying goods to tradesmen who had been strongly recommended to thorn, but who, it turned out afterwards, had given bills of sale to tho very persons recommending thorn. It was strongly recommended that twenty-ono days notice should be given, either in the "Provincial Gazette" or tho local newspapers before a bill of salo was given, in order that other creditors might bo awaro of tho state of affairs of tho person giving it. A committee was appointod to consider tho matter a»d draw up a report, to bo submittod a tho next meeting of tho Chamber. It was also resolved that tho Chambers of Commerce throughout colony should bo communicated with, in order that a joint lnornorial might bo presented to Parliament on tho subject.
