TN PURSUANCE [of tho provisions of an Act of tho General Assembly of Now Zealand, intituled " The Regulation of Elections Act, 1858," and another Act of tho General Assembly of New Zealand, intituled "The Provincial Elections Act, 1858," J, William Donald, Principal Returning Officer of tho Provinco of Canterbury, "do hereby give notice, that by virtue of a Writ, bearing date the seventh day of May, 1866, issued under tho hand of his Excellency the Governor of New Zealand, an Election will be hold for tho return of a qualified person to servo as Superintendent of tho Province of Canterbury, and that] the nomination of candidates will tako place at the Town Hall; Christchurch, on WEDNESDAY, tho 23rd day of May, 1866, at tho hour of noon ; and that tho poll (if nccossary), will bo taken on Wednesday, tho 30th day of May, 1866.
