West Coast Times. SATURDAY, MAY 12, 1866. MONTHLY SUMMARY.

West Coast Times Office, Saturday, May 12, 1866. Our last Monthly Summary was published on tho 1 lth ult., and despatched by the supplementary mail made up direct for Melbourne by the steamship Gothenburg. We avail ourselves of the opportunity of the sailing of tho same boat, with the striot punctuality which characterises her service, for the issue of our present monthly resume for transmission to tho Colonies and to Europe. The steamer Auckland, from Melbourne, carrying the English February Mails for New Zealand, arrived at the Bluff Harbor on the 19th April, and the mails wore delivered some days afterwards in Hokitika. The arrival of the Auckland at the Bluff was, however, anticipated by the steamer South Australian, having on board copies of papers containing the telegraphic sum- j mary of mail news received in Melbourne from Adelaide. This epitome of intelligence was at once telegraphed to us by our Bluff agents (a distance of 584 miles), and published the same day in tho form of a Times Extra. The dates brought were, from'Xoudon, by the latest special telegram, to March 16. It will thus be seen that an interval of scarcely moro than a month elapsed between the despatch of late intelligence from London and its publication in the remote colony 'of New Zealand. In accordance with our usual custom we give thoj] history of tho month arranged under its proper headings, and in doing so congratulate the settlers on tho West Coast that the story they have the opportunity of sending home, is one so satisfactory as to the past, and so suggestive of hope for the future.
