Our import market for tho past woek has not shown any tondoncy towards extensive operations, it having boon somowhat a broken week, including Easier Monday, and three oonsoculivo days' salo of town lands, which, wo doubt not, called a good portion of tho mommlilo community from their usual avocations. Notwithstanding thero has boon a fair

amount of .business dono ; and taking into consideration tho unsettled stato of tho digging population, caused by now rushos, tho transactions of tho week may bo considorcd quito satisfactory.

Tho arrival of the Gothenburg and lloyno, from Melbourne, and tho Jano Lockhart and Amy Robsart, from Sydnoy, also intercolonial vossols, with well-assorted cargoes has kept tho market well supplied. Tho cargo of tho Lockhart was submitted to tho hammer by Messrs G-. W. Binney and Co,, nt ship's sido, on Thursday, a portion only being placod owing to tho ini'loniont weather.

Mojsrs R. Reeves and Co. hold a largo snlo of general merchandise, nt their rooms, this day, aud euccoodod in placing a good many lined of satisfactory prices. Tho timo occupied, owing to tho quantity of goods offered, togothoi* with tho heavy rain, led to '.ho postponement of other sales.

Thero is no material alteration to nolo in prices. Prospects aro in favor of considerable b'lsinoss noxt week, should tho weather provo auspicious, and Iho value of goods will bo fairly tested.
